AmiJay Here

Hey guys, so it’s the other Ami here. I’m not really good at blogging or writing, so I’ll do my best!

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul." Hebrews 6:19

So I’m out in Colorado with Chris, Aimee, Marge, and Joe and it is legit! I working in the Grounds department at the Y where I am the only girl in the whole B&G (Buildings and Grounds). It’s a blast! I work with about 7 guys from all over the country and we do things like plant flowers, water flowers, lift heavy rocks, drive trucks around, and do the trash for all the cabins at the Y. One day I think I lifted giant rocks and arranged them for like 4 hours…I felt so buff! Also, my tan is getting crazy good. Watch out Erica, I’ve got some competition for you! I think my favorite part of the job is that most days I either work by myself or with one of the guys, this has given me an awesome chance to get to know some of the guys really well. Especially the other LT-er in the group, Bryan and I have gotten to have some really great conversations while driving around in a golf cart.

LT-wise, I am in Chris and Aimee’s project actually. I totally echo what Chris said about being super touched by how open the group has been. It’s the most honest and real group I’ve ever been a part of and it’s really inspiring. I definitely hope to bring that level of realness back to Mizzou in the fall because it’s just really freeing to feel like you can talk about your deepest crap…pretty rad! I lead one of the Life Groups (like core groups) and it was been awesome to go even deeper there with those girls in their lives. God is doing big stuff and it’s awesome to see!

I have also been leading worship here, which has been crazy. There are two LT services a week on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I lead the Thursday band and we are called Mountainsong (like Hillsong, but not because we live in the mountains). It’s been challenging, but overall a blast to do one of my favorite things – worship – and grow and learn how to lead well. My band is a total blessing to me because they are all really passionate about worship too, and super talented at that! I couldn’t ask for much better J

LT has been lighting a major fire inside me that I can’t wait to bring back to Mizzou and try to set our campus on fire. Just seeing how big God is, how GOOD He is, and ultimately how REDEMPTIVE He is has been crazy encouraging. Like Aimee, I can’t wait to see what God has in store for July because I’m sure it’s going to be awesome. And then I’m just excited for August to start pouring out everything at Mizzou that I’m getting filled up with here. It’s going to be legit!

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” –James 4:10
